and of course, with my return, must come a poem!
A Knight's Lament
He faces the pain Of a world at battle Not only of physical strain But a good brain rattle
Betrayed by his friends, Hurt by his heart He was seeking the ends To tear it apart
His family deserted him Even his mind would rebel He stood on the rim Of a hated hell
He fought bravely on Hiding his infirmity Trying to burn it Like a firewood tree
The loss of his father Struck him deep His leaving was a bother That soon began to creep
He began to seek shelter In places he should not At night he'd welter Seeing what he had fought
A temptress appeared to the knight Beautiful, fearsome, and vile She took him with no fight He was sadly easy to beguile
He grew to adore her And was hurt bad When she left him as a cur Broken and sad
He trudged onwards, spirit gone Resisting the urges of a world gone mad Fighting evils and hellspawn, He found little to make him glad
A light broke through his cloud A spear pierced his grief A woman to make God proud Gave him his relief.
