Hello everyone! I am finally back at home after being in the hospital for the past week. A friend of mine was kind enough to lend me her laptop so I was able check up on the goings on here at the forum and work on my fanfic. Unfortunately, I only had limited access to the internet so I had to keep my visits short.
The thing that put me in the hospital was a car accident. I ride a motorcycle so any kind of accident I can walk away from is a good accident in my books but I did have to stay at the hospital for 6 days. I was making a left turn at an intersection and a woman was coming down a hill to a stop an my right side. Her brakes didn't work or her brake-line was leaking because instead of stopping, she plowed right into me. I was thrown off my bike about 15 feet onto someones lawn and the woman managed to stop her car by steering it into a ditch.
I broke by left arm and a couple ribs on my left side when I hit the ground, most of the ribs on my right side, and my right leg is supposedly fractured (A hairline fracture but I hadn't noticed it at the time). I felt really weird though, I got up after I was hit and went over to the car in the ditch. The woman's airbag didn't deploy and she'd hit her head on the steering wheel hard enough to have her forehead bleed.
I helped her out of the car and some guy came running up to me telling me that I should go to a hospital or something. I thought he was over reacting about the whole thing but then I saw what my bike looked like then I looked at myself. My arm looked kind of funny an then then pain hit me. It was sort of like those bugs bunny cartoons where the coyote doesn't fall until he looks down.
The woman was ok save for a case of whiplash and knocking her head on the steering wheel and we both rode to the hospital in the same ambulance. I was kind of pissed off because they had to cut off my favorite jacket to get a look at my arm but I guess it was necessary.
After about a days worth of x-rays, they got my arm and leg casted and got me settled into a room. There's really nothing they can do about broken ribs so they wanted me to stay in the hospital for that length of time to make sure I didn't mess them up worse.
The doctors say that it's pretty amazing that I'm actually alive because eye witnesses say that I was hit pretty hard and and hit the ground really hard. The guy who told me to go to a hospital said he was amazed I got up because he thought that I was dead.
Being at the hospital kind of sucked but my friends visited and we had a couple of laughs. Some of my friends saw my bike before they came to visit and now they say I'm unkillable because my bike resembles scrap metal.
My girlfriend was really scared because she drove by the accident after I was picked up by the ambulance and she recognized my bike. She's relieved to know I'm ok but she's been doting on me ever since she came to visit the hospital
Now I can only type with one hand because my other arm can't bend properly and I have to be careful about how I sit as to not agitate my ribs. Oh well, at least everyone's alive and no one was irreparably damaged.
If only the same could be said about my bike
